Located on the slopes of the majestic Monte Macchialunga, the Prati di Stroncone are an unparalleled experience for anyone who visits them.

I Prati

This corner of Umbrian paradise, located a short distance from the historical centre of Stroncone, offers breath taking natural scenery, along both the tarred roads as well as the Franciscan path, which follows the ancient routes of transhumance and faith, tracing the footsteps of St. Francis of Assisi and St. Bernardino of Siena. Here, among paths, small lakes, clearings and woods, visitors are greeted by unspoilt and extraordinary nature, where a rich variety of fauna and flora can be admired, from wild strawberries to orchids, from roe deer to wolves.

Travellers will be fascinated by the majestic centuries-old chestnut trees and the quiet beauty of the area, far from the hustle and bustle of the city, accompanied by the melodious singing of birds, along the route from Cimitelle to Prati. Here, stands the small church of Santa Maria dei Prati, a witness to ancient devotion and a reference point for pilgrims on their way to the Franciscan sanctuaries in the Rieti valley and the convent of Greccio.

The Prati di Stroncone offers a wide range of activities, including trekking, mountain biking, hiking, horse riding and cross-country skiing, making the area particularly lively during the summer months, with a mild climate inviting you to discover the pleasure of the surrounding nature.

During the summer, facilities such as a children's play area, bars and restaurants offering local delicacies and a campsite with a swimming pool as well as a grocery shop, are available near the little church.
