1 Minute of reading

Aguzzo is an ancient castle located on a hill 378 metres above sea level, dominating the surrounding valleys.

Aguzzo

Historically linked to the dominion of Narni and the Orsini of Rome, its territory is predominantly hilly, covered by oak and pine woods and cultivated with wheat, vines, olive and fruit trees.

Over the centuries, Aguzzo has undergone name changes and maintained political ties with Narni. Its history is marked by events such as the transfer of the Papal See to Avignone and the municipal wars, during which the castle tried to remain neutral but was finally conquered by Narni in 1306.

The architecture of the castle includes a 12th-century church dedicated to St. Peter the Apostle, an old school building and a parish house. The recently restored walls feature a defensive bastion with loopholes and spingardiers.
