August in Stroncone is a historical event created in 1979 to commemorate the transfer of the body of the Blessed Anthony, patron saint of the town, from Assisi to Stroncone.

In August 1809, twenty young men from Stroncone, led by Father Angelico Coletti, set off for the convent of San Damiano to recover the body, still intact, and bring it to the convent of San Francesco, where it still rests today.

These events are represented in two re-enactments: the "Imperial Rescript", which represents the departure of the young people from Stroncone and the "Historical Procession", which represents the return of the young people welcomed by the festive community.

Throughout the event there are various historical events, such as the "Changing of the Guard": a characteristic representation of the changing of the guards who control the entrance to the village, accompanied by drummers.

Every evening it is possible to taste typical specialities at the “Locanda dei Briganti” (Brigands Inn), in the splendid setting of San Nicola Square, from which one of the most beautiful sunsets over the Terni Valley can be admired.
